Adam Bellows grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago. His mother’s cantorate inspired him to pursue both music and Jewish leadership. He studied music at Illinois State University and received a BA from National Louis University. Before entering HUC-JIR, he brought music to congregations and JCCs all over Chicago and served as Director of Youth Programming at Am Shalom in Glencoe, IL. Upon entering HUC-JIR, he received the Rabbi Jason Heubsch Prize for Excellence in Community Service for his volunteering. In Cincinnati, he has served as Rabbinic Intern at Rockdale Temple and has taught and led worship at Isaac M. Wise Temple. He is also proud to have served as student rabbi at Temple Beth Sholom in Marquette, MI and at Temple Beth El in Flint, MI. In April 2015, he and his wife, Melissa, welcomed their first child, Max Jacob.
