Austin Zoot

Austin Zoot is a rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Austin developed a love for Jewish leadership through his involvement in URJ youth programs, including summer camp (OSRUI and Kutz) and NFTY. Austin is an alumnus of Indiana University, where he studied Jewish studies and telecommunications, blending his passion for teaching Judaism with the modern modes of communication for delivering Jewish contact points to contemporary communities. Austin has a passion for making Judaism meaningful and accessible for American Jewish congregants and hopes to pursue a career bringing Judaism into the future in exciting and thoughtful ways. In past years, Austin’s TJF fellowships have included teaching religious school at Wise Temple, serving as rabbinic intern at Temple Sholom, and serving as a chaplain during the Clinical Pastoral Education process. He has also held internships with the National Office of Recruitment and Admissions at HUC and taught for several years at Kulanu, the Cincinnati Reform Jewish High School.
