Shirah Kraus

Shirah Kraus is a second-year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. Before enrolling at HUC, Shirah completed her undergraduate degree at Bryn Mawr College where she majored in Religion and concentrated in Gender and Sexuality Studies. While in school, she studied Arabic in Jerusalem and conducted research on faith-based community organizing. Shirah currently serves as the student rabbi of B’nai Israel Congregation in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She teaches fourth grade Rockdale Temple and works as the Jewish Federation Teaching Fellow at Rockwern Academy, where she was once a student. Shirah grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with her parents, Rabbi/Professor Matthew Kraus and Rabbi Sissy Coran, and three siblings. Shirah loves to teach, make kids laugh, play guitar, host shabbat dinners, and read for fun.
