Tzvia Rubens is originally from Lake Zurich, Illinois. She earned her BS from Bradley University in public relations and business management. After she graduated, she started working in the Chicagoland Jewish Community until deciding to get her graduate certificate in Judaic studies from University of Cincinnati in 2016. She started her studies at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2017. Tzvia has served as a TJF fellow at Rockdale Temple, co-teaching seventh and eighth grade and serving as the youth group coordinator. She has also served as a student rabbi at Synagogue of the Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota.
